Even a Little Junk Food Adversely Impacts Health Dr Sandeep Rai, Senior Consultant Diabetologist Apollo Hosp CBD, Apollo Out Pt Center Vashi & MGM Hospital Vashi Some People say soft drinks and Burgers can be safely enjoyed sometimes as part of a “balanced” diet. But what kind of “balance” are they really talking about? A balance between tasty but harmful food and healthy nutrition. There’s no denying that junk food cravings are very powerful. Junk Food is strategically developed by food manufacturers with the “perfect” amounts of added sugar, salt, fat, and other chemicals designed to make it tasty and you want more. But you can steer clear of processed food by eating as much healthy, foods as possible, and the lesser junk food you eat, the lesser you will crave for it. Food either supports health or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, it should be accurately portrayed as a junk food which is to be consumed as little as possible. If at all, there was the idea in minds of people that junk food can be safely enjoyed in moderation, it was recently demolished yet again, with a recent research showing that eating just one junk food per day for one month is enough to trigger metabolic syndrome in healthy people. Metabolic syndrome in turn can have deadly consequences, raising your risk for diabetes, heart attack, and stroke. So remember even acute small indulges of junk food may have bitter health related consequences in the long run.
